"What is the typical size of a star cluster?"

Recent observations of a new class of extragalactic objects called `extended star clusters' as well as attempts to identify star clusters harbouring the elusive `intermediate-mass' black holes have prompted much discussion as to what determines the typical size of a star cluster. The current state of this discussion will be reviewed in light of N-body models that describe the evolution of star clusters under various conditions.
